The film Alfred Hitchcock almost made!

“Trap for a Lonely Man” by Robert Thomas, translated by lucienne Hill and John Sutro is a tense psychological thriller set in a remote chalet in the French Alps. As the play opens Daniel Corban is being quizzed by a police inspector about the disappearance of his wife.
As other characters (including a suspiciously smooth priest and a woman claiming to be the missing wife) enter, so Corban’s grip on reality exits, and we are left with the inspector desperately trying to extract fact from fiction.
Packed full of suspense and intrigue, with a killer final twist, Robert Thomas’ thriller plays out like a Vertigo/Spellbound mash-up for agoraphobics.

It’s panto time again and Rutherglen Rep are well into rehearsals for ‘Wee Willie Winkie’, which promises to deliver the usual thrills and laughter.

Willie Winkie arrives in town to find everyone terrorised by the Bogeyman and his band of scary ghosts. To make things worse, Nabber and Grabber, a pair of cat burglars, turn up to start a crime wave under the nose of incompetent Policeman, Bobby MacRobbie.

When Granny Gumdrop’s granddaughters, Teeny and Weeny, go missing, it’s the last straw. Willie knows he has to do something. Helped by Lucky, Granny’s black cat, he sets out to track the Bogeyman to his lair and smash his power. Can Willie manage it? Oh, yes he can!

The Rep’s annual pantomime is eagerly anticipated by cast and audience alike. There’s always a special buzz in the air when panto rehearsals begin, as you can see from the picture of a previous panto rehearsal.

The Rep is moving further afield each year with their tour of the show, both to private and public venues.

Public performances this year will be as follows:

Monday 5th. December: Stonelaw Church Hall, Rutherglen
Friday 9th. December: Cambuslang Institute
Saturday 10th. December: Blantyre Miners Welfare, matinée and evening performances.
